An Update and a Christmas Party
Anthony Short—12th November, 2008 | 3 Comments
A late announcement, but the next Bits & Pixels is on the 22nd November. We've got some interesting things to talk about this month - the main one being the Bits & Pixels Christmas Party. We've also got a newsletter planned so it'll be easier to find out when the next event is. I've updated the iCal subscription for events too!
The Christmas Party
As an excuse for a larger, more interesting type of get together, we're thinking of holding a christmas party on the 20th December (next month's B&P). We'll need egg nog, santa hats and christmas cake and I might even make up my special egg nog cheesecake with a fruit cake base. It's been called the "best thing since christmas was invented" by many people. Amanda (the cake-baker for the anniversary) will hopefully be up for making some christmas treats. I even suggested we make the site christmas themed - but no one else seemed up for it. Apparently we don't get snow in Australia. So we need some more ideas for the first B&P christmas party. Perhaps you'd like some decorations, or for us to get truckloads of snow delivered so we can make snowmen.Let us know in the comments.
Local Web News
We're planning on using these monthly blog posts as a chance to promote your achievements so you can boast about them later. Got something really cool you'd like to show off? Maybe it's just a client's site you think is really nice? Maybe you've written a plugin or script or discovered something new. We know you like to tell everyone how great you are, so why not get a blog post written about you on B&P?
Newsletter
Some people have trouble finding out when the next event is, or at least, being informed of when it is. Right now we've got the RSS feed, Facebook, LinkedIn and this site to get the word out, but not everyone uses RSS or Facebook events. I know I don't use Facebook for events, so I could see how this could happen. So to bridge the gap, we're making a newsletter to send out each month. This will explain when the next event is, and will also feature the latest local news from you guys.
Updated iCal Subscription
I've updated the iCal subscription links as well so now they will stay updated dynamically. Just click the link and it will open up iCal or any other app that supports the iCal format and subscribe you to it. This is a really easy way to stay updated.
