May Recap

Let me start by saying we created a new record for the most number of attendees to a Bits & Pixels meetup last month with a total of 14 people from 7 different Newcastle Web design & development companies. Not bad! So thanks to everyone who made the effort to come along and especially those first-timers.
The afternoon started with some very casual introductions of the first-time guests and an overview of what the Bits & Pixels meetup is meant to achieve. I'm pretty sure everyone understood the casual aspect as there wasn't an empty glass on the table. As a result, before the end of all the 'official' introductions, people were already discussing with the people next to them what they did, who they worked for and what they were interested in.
From my observations everyone chatted at least once with everyone else which was great to see. Some business cards were handed around (although not in a wanky sipping coffee wearing ties kinda way) and connections were made. An all–round success.
Topics
After the introductions and casual chatting were over, the conversation was finally steered towards the informal topics of the meetup. Michael re-introduced the topic of selling and sales which saw a wide variety of strategies discussed. Unfortunately I missed the data portability discussion which I suggested in my blog comment. Luckily Wayde has been crowned the new local expert on the matter, so if you have any questions make sure you hit him up next week.
Also if you have any suggestions for topics for our next meeting keep them to yourself for now, I will be posting again very soon requesting topics for our next meeting.
Conclusion
Everything considered, the day was a great success and I'm sure everyone walked away learning something new, and had built on their own personal and professional networks.
Our next meet Bits & Pixels up is locked in on the 21st June @ The Grand Hotel and I look forward to seeing everyone there. Although there is no need to formally RSVP, try and let us know you are coming by RSVP'ing on our Bits & Pixels Facebook group or Upcoming.com event page. You can even contact us and say hello or ask any question about Bits & Pixels.
Cya in a couple of weeks!
Oh...one last thing. If you have attended a couple of previous Bits & Pixels meet-ups, contact us with your details and we will happily add you to our members page.
