So… do you like stuff?

Wayde Christie—13th May, 2008  |  10 Comments

For those of you who haven't had the good fortune of meeting me yet, I'm Waydo – the man responsible for all that is pretty at Newism.

Just a reminder that Bits & Pixels is on again this Saturday, but this time there'll be an amazing new twist – we've got an agenda (of sorts)! That means that we'll actually be talking about a particular topic, rather than regurgitating everything we've read on Digg in the last 5 minutes.

The first ever official B&P topic will be about selling and sales (as suggested by Michael). Rivetting stuff, but vital nonetheless.

So in the spirit of this newfound seriousness, we thought we'd make it a habit of requesting ideas for meeting topics before each meeting.

With that in mind – any ideas folks? Something you just have to get off your chest? If you've got an idea for a topic we can discuss, just add a comment below and we'll consider it for the next meeting.

Looking forward to meeting y'all!

I’m thinking the new ‘connect’ technologies — MySpace Data Availability, Facebook Connect and now Google Friend Connect all look pretty interesting.

I’ll try and do a little bit more research on this before the weekend.

I second Leevi’s suggestion. The Dataportability (http://dataportability.org) movement/buzz/group that has triggered much of this is a very relevant thing to talk about. I’m keen to have a rant with you all about what’s happening and the technologies that are behind it.

I’m also keen to have a few beers and talk nonsense.

And if anyone is interested in typography online that could be atleast be a good rant about all the bad stuff out there..

Anthony suggests: http://alistapart.com/topics/design/typography/

And I second Dylans view to more beers and nonsense smile

Hey all,

This is great. I am not too familiar with data portability so would be interested to hear about that also. Now - don’t hesitate to suggest that sales and marketing is a bit stuffy a subject.

Cheers and beers, Michael

@Amanda - Web typography is always fun for designers smile

Most of the internet seems to suffer from a lack of good typography.

@Leevi - Haven’t seen those before… looks interesting. Yay more stuff we need to learn :(

Hey!

The idea of an agenda sounds great. Haven’t yet attended any of the meet ups - I’m a wannabe web designer that basically has no idea on anything, so I have nothing to contribute which would be a tad embarrassing I believe. Only created 3 websites but have had a keen interest in web design for two years now. Anyway glad your hard work is a success - hope to see you some time (when I work up the courage to come).

Jess.

@Jess - you’re more than welcome to come along.

Besides, you’ve made more websites than most of the regulars wink

@Jess - I’ve only made a few as well. It’s nothing super formal. Plus you’ll learn a lot from these guys.

You should come along!

@ Anthony - Don’t sell yourself short mate. Your the best dammed data entry operator we have!
